Information On Boils Causes, Symptoms And Treatment

Boils may appear on the face, back, buttocks, armpits or in the groin area; anywhere where there are hair follicles and sweat or irritation such as friction can occur. The most direct cause of boils in the intrusion of bacteria into and under the skin, but other factors may increase susceptibility. For example, people who have compromised immunity may be more vulnerable. In addition, diabetes, poor health and clothes that chafe the skin may increase the likelihood prednisone. of a boil forming (Mayo Clinic).

What causes a Boil?
There are many causes of boils. Some common causes are:
Ingrown hair
Splinter or other foreign material that has become lodged in the skin
Plugged sweat glands that become infected.

Hot tub folliculitis is caused by the pseudomonas bacteria that thrive in hot and humid environments. It is usually got from wooden hot tubs. The infected person will develop red itchy bumps on the skin with 12 to 24 hours. These red bumps will form into pus-filled blisters. Persons who have open cuts or sores, those who have diabetes or a history of rash infections are more prone to being infected.
Furuncles are generally caused by Staphylococcus aureus but may be caused by other bacteria or fungi. They may begin as a tender red subcutaneous nodule but ultimately become fluctuant (feel like a water-filled balloon). A furuncle may drain spontaneously, producing pus and a solid core. More often they are opened by the individual, a parent, or a physician.

Root causes:

Boils may cause by staphylococcus germs, which enter the sweat glands or hair follicles. The essential cause of this disorder is thus bacterial. However, several factors predispose the growth of bacteria in hair follicles. Of these, the chief factor is a toxic condition in the blood stream, which is due to a faulty diet and frenetic pace of living. Boils generally appear when a person is in a run- down and devitalized condition.

Signs and Symptoms of Boils
The symptoms of boils are red, pus -filled lumps that are tender, warm, and painful. Boils tend to get larger and more painful over a few days, before bursting and releasing the pus. A yellow or white point at the center of the lump can be seen when the boil is ready to drain or discharge pus. In some people, itching may develop before the lumps begin to develop. Boils are most often found on the back, underarms, shoulders, face, lip, thighs and buttocks, but may be found elsewhere. The same bacteria that cause the boil may also produce a toxin (poison) that causes blood clots, usually in the blood vessels that are around the boil.

Treatment

Treatment is with oral antibiotics (e.g. erythromycin 500 mg four times daily for 10-14 days) and occasionally incision and drainage. Antiseptics such as povidone iodine, chlorhexidine (as soap) and a bath oil (e.g. Oilatum plusT) can be useful in prophylaxis.
In acute cases, the treatment consists of:
Surgical incision only when the boil is ripe.
Course of Septran (P) or penicillin or broad-spectrum antibiotics.
Removal or correction of the predisposing cause.

How to Cure Your Boils

Find  quick effective relief from your boils symptoms. Natural based products help  stop the swelling and pain of boils . See more details on how you can stop the discomfort.

Boils are not a pleasant topic, but it is something that most of us will experience at some point in our lives. This article will show how you can  cure your boils naturally by using inexpensive natural remedies.

What is a boil? Another name used to describe a boil is a skin abscess, but basically it’s just an infection deep in the skin. I like to describe a boil as being a really big zit because that’s what it looks like. Below are several different types of boils:

Cystic acne — An abscess that forms when the oil ducts become infected or clogged. This type of boil is found mostly on the face and primarily effects teenagers.

Furuncle or carbuncle — An abscess of the skin caused by Staphylococcus aureus. This type of boil may cause a fever or chills.

Pilonidal cyst — This abscess is usually found in the crease of the buttocks . People who sit a lot or travel over long distances, like a truck driver, are more prone to getting this kind of boil.

Hidradenitis suppurativa — This is when you have multiple boils that form in the arm pits and groin area and are associated with the sweat glands.

Why do we get boils? The most common cause is believed to be clogged sweat glands or hair follicles that become infected. It is also possible for a scratch or any other break in the skin to become infected and turn into a boil. Believe it or not, an ingrown hair can cause a boil. People with compromised or suppressed immune systems are more likely to get boils. That includes people with diabetes. Medications can also suppress the immune system — especially cortisone, prednisone, prednisolone and medications used by cancer patients.

How to  treating a boilcure boils naturally ? If you have been searching the Internet for information on  how to cure boils, you probably found that most Websites recommend that you go to your doctor and be put on antibiotics. I think that’s a bit radical when most  boils can be effectively cured at home. If, however, after you have tried to cure the boil yourself, but it doesn’t work, then go to your doctor immediately. Below are four natural cures you can try:

Turmeric — Turmeric taken internally can help dissolve and heal boils in as little as three days. It has anti-inflammatory and blood purifying effects on the body. Just take one teaspoon of turmeric powder in warm water three times a day or buy turmeric in capsule form and take about 450 mg each day. You can also make a paste out of the turmeric powder and place it directly on the boil and cover it with gauze. Be careful as turmeric can stain your skin and your clothes. The stain on your skin will go away in about two weeks.

Tea Tree Oil — Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic that is able to help in the healing of all kinds of skin problems. All you have to do is apply one drop of tea tree oil directly on the boil everyday after bathing until it’s gone.

Castor Oil — Put some Castor oil on a cotton ball and place it on the boil. You will need to secure it with gauze or a band-aid. Castor oil will draw the poison right out of the boil and can heal it in as little as two days.

There are other remedies that I did not mention as I felt the three above were the best. Some other remedies are iodine, a paste made out of baking soda or you can take an epson salts bath.

Natural Boil and Carbuncle Cures

Have you been searching for a remedy that would relieve you of the symptoms of your boils? See how you can get rid of the painful boils now. Join the many other former boil suffers that have found a  treatment option that works .

A boil is local infection of the skin containing pus and showing on the skin as a reddened tender swelling – it’s a type of skin abscess. Carbuncles are similar to boils. They are hard, pus filled, painful inflammations. They are larger and more deeply rooted than boils and have several openings. They are often a symptom of poor general health. Both boils and carbuncles are caused by a bacterial infection. These micro-organisms are on the skin but they don’t do any damage unless the resistance is lowered by poor general health, diabetes, nutritional deficiencies, friction or cuts. When the bacteria gains entry to the skin they settle in the hair follicle or sebaceous glands. To deal with the infection a large number of white blood cells travel to the site and attack the invading bacteria. Some of the bacteria and white blood cells die and form (at least in part) pus. The bacteria can be overcome and the boils subsides by itself or the pus can build up pressure on the skin surface so that it ruptures, drains and heals.

What you can do to treat boils and carbuncles

It is necessary to treat the infection itself but more importantly to increase the overall health and resistance of the body. If you frequently suffer from boils or carbuncles you need a general assessment of your health, lifestyle and diet. You will benefit from detoxifying your body.

  • Make sure that your diet contains plenty of fruit and vegetables.
  • Take a vitamin C (specifically calcium ascorbate – which is a non acidifying form of vitamin C) and a general vitamin and mineral supplement to assist in fighting the infection.

Herbs that can be used to cleanse your liver include:

  • dandelion
  • milk thistle
  • burdock root

Take plenty of garlic as this is a great natural antibiotic.

Herbs that can boost the immune system include:

  • echinacea
  • huang qi

Herbs to fight the infection include:

  • myrrh
  • thyme
  • dandelion root
  • burdock

The following remedy is considered a specific for boils, as it will aid the lymphatic system:

2 parts echinacea

1 part pasque flower

2 parts wild indigo

1 part poke root

Combine all the ingredients. Take 1 teaspoon of the herb blend and place into a suitable sized saucepan and add one cup of boiling water. Allow this to stand for 10-15 minutes. Strain out the herbs. Drink 1 cup three times per day.

Externally an ointment or poultice should be used to draw the pus from the boil. A poultice can be made from:

  • marshmallow leaf
  • cabbage leaf

To make the cabbage leaf poultice take a few of the inner leaves of the white cabbage. Wash them well and dry them lightly. The large ribs can be removed and the leaves tapped with a rolling pin to soften them. Place the leaves on the affected area and hold them in place with a loose bandage. Leave for half an hour and then replace the old leaves with new ones.

If you suffer from boils or carbuncles you need to work on improving your overall health. This will include cleansing your colon, liver and lymphatic system. By cleansing your body you will improve the function of your immune system and enhance your ability to keep bacteria from causing a problem.
